25th December 2002 - Severe Storm brings heavy rain to Somerton, NSW
Series of photos of damage created by a storm at Somerton (NW of Tamworth on the Oxley Highway) on Christmas Day 2002. 125mm of rain fell causing the failure of a culvert on the Lower Somerton Road. Department of Land and Water Conservation statistics showed the river level at Carroll Gap rose from 0.82m to 2.42m early yesterday morning and at Somerton from 0.14m to 0.92m, with water flow at Carroll Gap increasing from 95ML to 4976ML, and from 105ML to 1365ML at Somerton.
