1984 Flood: January - February 1984

The 1984 flood resulted in scores of homes and businesses flooded through the Peel and Namoi Valleys with millions of dollars in damage. Flood in Tamworth was the worst since the 1955 flood. Heavy overnight rain pushed the Peel over its banks and bridges, dividing the city for much of 31 January with a two kilometre wide brown torrent carry trees and dead stock through the city.
